Equipment for transferring parts between two sections of a heat treatment chain

  • Vibrating channel or conveyor belt with recovery of quenching oil before washing
  • Pivoting vibrating channel or conveyor belt enabling production to be diverted before it reaches the next section of a chain

Tanks for quenching, washing and protective treatment

  • Tank with parts removed by bucket elevator or conveyor belt, suitable for use with water, emulsion, oil between 50 and 200 °C or salt between 160 and 400 °C
  • Tank with parts delivered by forced current of the quenching liquid, suitable for use with water, emulsion, or oil between 50 and 100 °C and reserved for small and medium-sized parts
  • Tank with parts removed by baskets rotating on a carousel, suitable for use with water, emulsion, oil between 50 and 200 °C or salt between 160 and 400 °C

Oil tank with delivery by conveyor belt

Salt tank with delivery by bucket chain

Treatment of the brine obtained after washing parts that have been quenched in a salt bath

  • The salty water is evaporated in an electrically heated chamber. The water vapour is condensed off for reuse in the washing machine.
  • The liquid salt is drained into an ingot mould. After it has solidified the salt can be reused in the quench tank

Atmosphere generating equipment

  • Dissociated methanol with or without added nitrogen
  • Air-propane or air-natural gas with endothermic reaction
  • Cracked ammonia

The atmosphere may be generated within the enclosure of the furnace at temperatures above 850 °C or by an independent system when the temperatures are lower.

Gas mixing and distribution panels

For case hardening, carbonitriding and hardening with analyser-regulator

For nitrocarburising (OXYCAD®)

Equipment for analysis and regulation of atmospheres

  • Measurement, calculation and control of potential carbon by oxygen probe or lambda probe
  • Measurement of the various components in a gas mixture such as CO/CO2/CH4/H2/etc.

Automatic control and supervision systems using SAFED process control (SPC)

We make use of the latest technology in order to guarantee that the control of a furnace meets the requirements of both production and safety. These control and supervision systems may have different levels depending on production needs.

  • Possible levels of furnace control

Possible levels of furnace control

All the user functions, safety circuits and process sequences are controlled by a programmable logic controller The user interface is normally an interactive console.

Basic functions

  • Monitoring signals from sensors such as: pressure switches, flow regulators, gas lighters etc.
  • Issuing set values such as: conveyor speed, agitator speed, turbine speed, gas flow rate, carbon potential etc. • Displaying actual values such as: gas flow rate, flow time, carbon potential etc.
  • Temperature regulation in furnace, tank etc.
  • Alarm management
  • Monitoring differences between set values and actual values of process parameters
  • Storing preset heat treatment programs
  • Graphic follow-up of the load
  • Transferring set values and actual values from other components of the heat treatment line (loaders, washing machine etc.)
  • Storage and management of acceptance tests and data processing on a separate PC showing the same display as on the operator’s panel

Software support and remote maintenance

All the SAFED installations that are controlled by PLC are fitted with a remote maintenance feature that enables SAFED operators to intervene remotely, with the customer’s agreement, in order to check the functions and process data and update the software.

All orders are carried out in strict accordance with our customers’ specifications.
